James watched Amanda's MozCon presentation on local link research earlier this month and was interested in our different approach to link building. Typically, companies like Ward Law Group reach out to us when:


About the results, or lack thereof, provided from previous vendors.


By the sheer amount of noise going on in the industry with what works and what doesn’t.


With their current status quo. Should we prioritize citations, link building, content development, a new website, reviews, structured data, ML/AI, Google My Business, or all of the above?


Because they’ve been promised everything under the sun from sales reps of other agencies but have only ever received blog posts that get miniscule traffic, no ranking improvement on keywords that matter, excuses, and no real strategy besides “Look at this shiny report!”

Executive Overview

Traffic/rankings don’t pay the bills and keep you profitable – leads and new customers do. With the current team at Ward Law Group, our scope will primarily focused on link acquisition.

There is a deliverable during month 1 for keyword research, this will be dedicated to just 1 market. We would like to show how we perform keyword research and provide insights that may not have been considered before.

If the deliverable is found to be of value to Ward Law Group, we can adjust the initial roadmap to add the 2 other markets or can add them to a future roadmap.

Ranking organically in position 3 for Miami car accident lawyer is quite the feat. The 2 sites outranking Ward Law Group have a fraction of the links.

Maybe the content is more robust and purely on topic?

Maybe it’s a combination of both?

There are keywords (topics) where rankings are not as strong in the Miami market, too.


Kissimmee’s overall rankings could use some help. Position 13 for Kissimmee car accident lawyer is what we would call a Striking Distance opportunity.

The content is likely rather comprehensive but the page has no links pointing to it. The top ranking results don’t have a ton of backlinks but interestingly, positions 6, 7, and 10 have upwards of 10x the amount of links.

Not all links are created equal.

New York City

New York City is in the same position as Kissimmee. Position 15 for New York City motorcycle accident lawyer. This keyword would be a Striking Distance opportunity, too.

The #1 organic result has 37 links from 18 domains, opposite of what was shown for Kissimmee, while most of the other top ranking results are similar to Kissimmee with link volumes.

Looking at the links Rosenbaum & Rosenbaum has to that page, most of them are spam/garbage.

Link Benchmarking

Backlinks are still an important ranking factor for organic and map rankings. We developed a proprietary link classification system that makes building a link benchmark a fraction of the time it would take to manually classify links.
